ABP offers Angus and Hereford breed bonuses across all our sites for eligible Angus and Hereford sired cattle. Delivered in partnership with Certified Irish Angus and Certified Irish Hereford Prime, the updated bonus structures are designed to reward farmers for embracing more sustainable farming practices, with a particular focus on genetic improvement and engagement with the Bord Bia AgNav platform.

Angus Breed Bonus:

Standard Breed Bonus

10c/kg baseline
For all Angus-sired animals meeting Certified Irish Angus requirements

Eligibility Criteria
  • Maximum 4 farm residencies
  • Bord Bia SBLAS approved farm
  • Minimum 70 days on Quality Assured farms
  • Minimum 60 days on presenting farm
  • Carcass weight: 240kg to 380kg
  • Conformation: O= or better
  • Fat score: 2+ to 4+

Sustainability Pillar

+5c/kg bonus

Available to farmers who:
  • Register on AgNav
  • Complete a Farm Sustainability Plan
  • Select and complete three sustainability actions
  • Examples of actions
  • Low Emissions Slurry Spreading (LESS)
  • Reduce age at slaughter
  • Improve Dairy Beef Index (DBI)
  • Mandatory from 2029

Recorded sire or genotype

Future Requirements

From 2028: Minimum Commercial Beef Value (CBV) of €100
From 2029: Genotype verification mandatory

  • Bord Bia SBLAS approved farm
  • Hereford (HE/HEX) identified on passport
  • Steers and heifers only
  • Maximum 4 farm residencies
  • Minimum 70 days on Quality Assured farms
  • Minimum 60 days on presenting farm
  • Carcass weight: 240kg to 380kg
  • Conformation: O= or better
  • Fat score: 2+ to 4+
